Every kindergartner knows they are supposed to keep their hands to themselves. If a classmate hits them they report it to an adult who will take care of it. The hitter is chastised and steps are taken to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Where does that knowing get lost as kids grow up?
There are too many reports of domestic violence. Too many young people caught up in the system for hitting their parents or caretakers. Too many women lying about bruises and broken bones. Too many children exposed to violence when they should be playing and daydreaming about the future.
We must stop turning a blind eye to this. Hitting is wrong. Even a kindergartner knows that.
